Auction result well in line with expectations
In September last year Bonhams in London held the auction Old Master Paintings, which included the work Portrait of a young girl, said to be a Stanley of the Derby family, seated three-quarter-length, with a basket of strawberries by John Hoppner. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,187.50 (€ 3,627.68) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Hoppner achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Henrietta Maria Vernon Atherton, 2nd Lady Lilford (d. 1820), of Atherton Hall, Leigh, with her two children in July 2021 with an auction result of GBP 81,900.00 (€ 96,044.73).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im September letzten Jahres führte Bonhams in London die Auktion Old Master Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of a young girl, said to be a Stanley of the Derby family, seated three-quarter-length, with a basket of strawberries von John Hoppner zur Versteigerung kam.
