Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Sir Edwin Landseer, R.A. with a ghillie fishing for salmon, possibly on the river Dart, near Holne, Devon by John Frederick Lewis was sold in the Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite and British Impressionist Art auction at Christies in London in December 2016. The price achieved of GBP 36,250.00 (€ 42,382.13) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Frederick Lewis achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Midday Meal, Cairo in June 2005 with an auction result of GBP 2,472,000.00 (€ 3,663,660.11).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Sir Edwin Landseer, R.A. with a ghillie fishing for salmon, possibly on the river Dart, near Holne, Devon von John Frederick Lewis wurde im Dezember 2016 in der Auktion Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite and British Impressionist Art bei Christies in London versteigert.
