Auction result misses estimated price range
In November 2018 a collector was able to acquire the work Coastal Waves at Sunset by John Frederick Kensett for USD 62,500.00 (€ 55,197.39). This price was achieved in the auction American Art at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 100,000.00 – 150,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Frederick Kensett achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Entrance to Newport Harbor in December 2005 with an auction result of USD 1,248,000.00 (€ 1,053,876.03).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im November 2018 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Coastal Waves at Sunset von John Frederick Kensett für USD 62.500,00 (€ 55.197,39) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion American Art bei Christies in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 100.000,00 – 150.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Frederick Kensett erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Entrance to Newport Harbor im Dezember 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.248.000,00 (€ 1.053.876,03).
