Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by John Frederick Kensett could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in September 2020 for an unexpectedly low price. In the American Art auction, the work Marine Scene changed hands for USD 75,600.00 (€ 64,516.13) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Frederick Kensett achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Entrance to Newport Harbor in December 2005 with an auction result of USD 1,248,000.00 (€ 1,053,876.03).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von John Frederick Kensett konnte im September 2020 bei Sothebys in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion American Art wechselte die Arbeit Marine Scene für USD 75.600,00 (€ 64.516,13) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 80.000,00 – 120.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Frederick Kensett erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Entrance to Newport Harbor im Dezember 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.248.000,00 (€ 1.053.876,03).
