This artwork by John Frederick Kensett achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in January this year. In the From Peale to Peto: American Masters from the Pollack Collection auction, the work View from the Boulders sold for USD 25,200.00 (€ 23,208.69) - well above the upper estimate of USD 12,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Frederick Kensett achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Entrance to Newport Harbor in December 2005 with an auction result of USD 1,248,000.00 (€ 1,053,876.03).

Dieses Kunstwerk von John Frederick Kensett erzielte im Januar diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion From Peale to Peto: American Masters from the Pollack Collection wurde die Arbeit View from the Boulders für USD 25.200,00 (€ 23.208,69) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 12.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Frederick Kensett erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Entrance to Newport Harbor im Dezember 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.248.000,00 (€ 1.053.876,03).
