Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work William, 5th Viscount Howe, in profile to right, in coat and frilled cravat, his hair en queue by John Field was auctioned at Christies in London in June 2005, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 200.00 – 300.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 120.00 (€ 177.85). Admittedly, works by John Field have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Admiral Viscount Horatio Nelson (1758-1805) in October 2005 with an auction result of GBP 780.00 (€ 1,150.26).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit William, 5th Viscount Howe, in profile to right, in coat and frilled cravat, his hair en queue von John Field im Juni 2005 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 200,00 – 300,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 120,00 (€ 177,85) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Field auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Admiral Viscount Horatio Nelson (1758-1805) im Oktober 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 780,00 (€ 1.150,26).
