Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In June 2005 Christies in London held the auction Portrait Miniatures, Objects of Vertu & Icons, which included the work Unknown by John Field. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 360.00 (€ 533.54), 20% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Field - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Admiral Viscount Horatio Nelson (1758-1805), which sold at auction in October 2005 for GBP 780.00 (€ 1,150.26).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Juni 2005 führte Christies in London die Auktion Portrait Miniatures, Objects of Vertu & Icons durch, in der auch die Arbeit Unknown von John Field zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 360,00 (€ 533,54) und damit 20% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von John Field mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Admiral Viscount Horatio Nelson (1758-1805) beobachtet, die im Oktober 2005 für GBP 780,00 (€ 1.150,26) versteigert wurde.
