The work Unknown by John Field was sold in the Portrait Miniatures, Objects of Vertu and Selected Silver auction at Christies in London in November 2006. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 480.00 (€ 712.82), 37% above the upper estimate. Other works by John Field have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of GBP 780.00 (€ 1,150.26) in October 2005 for the work Admiral Viscount Horatio Nelson (1758-1805).
