Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Sir Joshua Reynolds Visiting Goldsmith In His Study by John Faed was sold in the Scottish and Sporting Pictures auction at Sothebys in London in August 2007. The price achieved of GBP 18,000.00 (€ 26,608.75) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Faed achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Boyhood, 1849 in February 2003 with an auction result of GBP 237,650.00 (€ 346,961.50).
