Auction result misses estimated price range
In November 2008 a collector was able to acquire the work The Soldier'S Return by John Faed for GBP 18,750.00 (€ 22,670.16). This price was achieved in the auction A GREAT BRITISH COLLECTION: The pictures collected by Sir David and Lady Scott, sold to benefit the Finnis Scott Foundation at Sothebys in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Faed achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Boyhood, 1849 in February 2003 with an auction result of GBP 237,650.00 (€ 346,961.50).
