Sold at the upper estimate price
In July 2012 Christies in London held the auction Victorian & British Impressionist Art, which included the work The lute player by John Dawson Watson. The auction ended at the price of GBP 1,500.00 (€ 1,910.60), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Dawson Watson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Fireside Thoughts, which sold at auction in March 2008 for GBP 5,625.00 (€ 7,066.40).
