Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by John Currin could be acquired at Phillips in New York in June this year for an unexpectedly low price. In the Editions & Works on Paper auction, the work Milestones changed hands for USD 5,715.00 (€ 5,233.52) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 6,000.00 – 9,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Currin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Nice 'n Easy in November 2016 with an auction result of USD 12,007,500.00 (€ 11,351,389.68).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von John Currin konnte im Juni diesen Jahres bei Phillips in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Editions & Works on Paper wechselte die Arbeit Milestones für USD 5.715,00 (€ 5.233,52) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 6.000,00 – 9.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Currin erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Nice 'n Easy im November 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 12.007.500,00 (€ 11.351.389,68).
