In October 2017 Phillips in New York held the auction The Odyssey of Collecting: Photographs from Joy of Giving Something Foundation, which included the work Self Portrait, Interlocking Fingers No. 1 by John Coplans. The »bidding war« ended at USD 15,000.00 (€ 12,877.75), 25% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Coplans - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work 'Self-Portrait, Frieze No. 4, 3 Panels', which sold at auction in March 2018 for USD 32,500.00 (€ 26,379.87).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 25 % übertroffen
Im Oktober 2017 führte Phillips in New York die Auktion The Odyssey of Collecting: Photographs from Joy of Giving Something Foundation durch, in der auch die Arbeit Self Portrait, Interlocking Fingers No. 1 von John Coplans zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 15.000,00 (€ 12.877,75) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von John Coplans mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit 'Self-Portrait, Frieze No. 4, 3 Panels' beobachtet, die im März 2018 für USD 32.500,00 (€ 26.379,87) versteigert wurde.
