Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In June 2000 Christies in London held the auction SPORTING ART AND DOGS, which included the work Through the gate by John Charlton. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 800.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 822.50 (€ 1,303.76). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Charlton achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work 'God save the Queen': Queen Victoria arriving at St Paul's Cathedral on the Occasion of the Diamond Jubilee Thanksgiving Service, 22 June 1897 in July 2013 with an auction result of GBP 55,875.00 (€ 63,846.93).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Juni 2000 führte Christies in London die Auktion SPORTING ART AND DOGS durch, in der auch die Arbeit Through the gate von John Charlton zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 800,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 822,50 (€ 1.303,76) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Charlton erzielen.
