This artwork by John Charlton achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in March 2005. In the British and Victorian Pictures auction, the work Portrait of An Officer of Her Majesty'S Body Guard of The Honourable Corps of Gentlemen-At-Arms, Full-Length, In Dress Uniform sold for GBP 3,360.00 (€ 4,893.49) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Charlton achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work 'God save the Queen': Queen Victoria arriving at St Paul's Cathedral on the Occasion of the Diamond Jubilee Thanksgiving Service, 22 June 1897 in July 2013 with an auction result of GBP 55,875.00 (€ 63,846.93).
