Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In January 2005 Christies in London held the auction British and Continental Pictures, which included the work Driver, Tempest, Trifle, Bachelor, and Pilgrim a sketch of five hounds by John Charlton. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 480.00 (€ 693.39), 20% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Charlton achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work 'God save the Queen': Queen Victoria arriving at St Paul's Cathedral on the Occasion of the Diamond Jubilee Thanksgiving Service, 22 June 1897 in July 2013 with an auction result of GBP 55,875.00 (€ 63,846.93).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Januar 2005 führte Christies in London die Auktion British and Continental Pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit Driver, Tempest, Trifle, Bachelor, and Pilgrim a sketch of five hounds von John Charlton zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 480,00 (€ 693,39) und damit 20% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Charlton erzielen.
