Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Bad news for the camp by John Charlton was sold in the Victorian Pictures auction at Christies in London in June 2000. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 7,000.00 – 10,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 7,050.00 (€ 11,175.12) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by John Charlton have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work 'God save the Queen': Queen Victoria arriving at St Paul's Cathedral on the Occasion of the Diamond Jubilee Thanksgiving Service, 22 June 1897 in July 2013 with an auction result of GBP 55,875.00 (€ 63,846.93).
