Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Close Of A Summer Day by John Brett was sold in the Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art auction at Sothebys in London in December 2019. The price achieved of GBP 3,750.00 (€ 4,432.06) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Brett achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Pearly Summer in February 2003 with an auction result of GBP 144,150.00 (€ 210,454.45).
