Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Two prints by the artist by Joel Shapiro was auctioned at Christies in New York in April this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,600.00 – 2,400.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 756.00 (€ 684.78). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joel Shapiro achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work without title in March 2016 with an auction result of USD 701,000.00 (€ 615,452.15).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Two prints by the artist von Joel Shapiro im April diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.600,00 – 2.400,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 756,00 (€ 684,78) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Joel Shapiro erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit ohne Titel im März 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 701.000,00 (€ 615.452,15).
