In September 2019 Christies in New York held the auction South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art, which included the work Universal Recipient by Jitish Kallat. The »bidding war« ended at USD 75,000.00 (€ 68,775.79), 50% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jitish Kallat - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Untitled (Eclipse)- 5, which sold at auction in November 2010 for HKD 2,780,000.00 (€ 274,673.21).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 50 % übertroffen
Im September 2019 führte Christies in New York die Auktion South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Universal Recipient von Jitish Kallat zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 75.000,00 (€ 68.775,79) und damit 50% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Jitish Kallat mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Untitled (Eclipse)- 5 beobachtet, die im November 2010 für HKD 2.780.000,00 (€ 274.673,21) versteigert wurde.
