A young lady, facing left in pale blue dress with lace-bordered underdress with large white bow at corsage, her fair hair curled and upswept
oval, 2 7/8 in. (72 mm.) high, gold mount on the cover of a circular Louis XVI gold snuff-box enamelled in translucent gun-metal blue-grey on a guilloché vertical coin pattern, the box by Joseph-Etienne Blerzy (fl. 1768-1808), marked, with the charge and discharge marks of Jean-Baptiste Fouache 1774-1780 and struck with inventory no. 505 (3 5/16 in. 84 mm. diam.)

Auction result well in line with expectations

The price achieved of GBP 5,019.00 (€ 7,212.58) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jeremiah Meyer - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait Of A Student In The Robes Of A Westminster Scholar, which sold at auction in April 2008 for GBP 16,100.00 (€ 20,525.22).
