Auction result well in line with expectations
In August 2007 Sothebys in Melbourne held the auction Important Australian Art Including Selected International Works, which included the work Australian The Park by Jeffrey Smart. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of AUD 220,000.00 – 260,000.00, the actual price achieved of AUD 228,000.00 (€ 136,338.68) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jeffrey Smart - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Australian The Painted Factory, Tuscany, which sold at auction in August 2009 for AUD 870,000.00 (€ 511,490.18).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im August 2007 führte Sothebys in Melbourne die Auktion Important Australian Art Including Selected International Works durch, in der auch die Arbeit Australian The Park von Jeffrey Smart zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von AUD 220.000,00 – 260.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von AUD 228.000,00 (€ 136.338,68) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Jeffrey Smart mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Australian The Painted Factory, Tuscany beobachtet, die im August 2009 für AUD 870.000,00 (€ 511.490,18) versteigert wurde.
