Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Australian Ostia by Jeffrey Smart was sold in the Important Australian Art auction at Sothebys in Melbourne in November 2009. The price achieved of AUD 384,000.00 (€ 234,154.46) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as AUD 350,000.00 – 450,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jeffrey Smart - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Australian The Painted Factory, Tuscany, which sold at auction in August 2009 for AUD 870,000.00 (€ 511,490.18).

Die Arbeit Australian Ostia von Jeffrey Smart wurde im November 2009 in der Auktion Important Australian Art bei Sothebys in Melbourne versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von AUD 384.000,00 (€ 234.154,46) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit AUD 350.000,00 – 450.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Jeffrey Smart mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Australian The Painted Factory, Tuscany beobachtet, die im August 2009 für AUD 870.000,00 (€ 511.490,18) versteigert wurde.
