Upper estimated price slightly exceeded

Here, the upper estimate of AUD 400,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for AUD 408,000.00 (€ 248,789.12). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jeffrey Smart - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Australian The Painted Factory, Tuscany, which sold at auction in August 2009 for AUD 870,000.00 (€ 511,490.18).

Die Arbeit Australian The Terrace, Madrid Airport Ii von Jeffrey Smart wurde im November 2009 in der Auktion Important Australian Art bei Sothebys in Melbourne versteigert. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von AUD 400.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für AUD 408.000,00 (€ 248.789,12) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Jeffrey Smart mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Australian The Painted Factory, Tuscany beobachtet, die im August 2009 für AUD 870.000,00 (€ 511.490,18) versteigert wurde.
