In August 2009 Sothebys in Melbourne held the auction Important Australian Art, which included the work Australian The Painted Factory, Tuscany by Jeffrey Smart. Here, the upper estimate of AUD 800,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for AUD 870,000.00 (€ 511,490.18). With this result, Australian The Painted Factory, Tuscany is even the most expensive work of art by Jeffrey Smart that we have observed at auctions so far.
