Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2007 Sothebys in Sydney held the auction Important Australian Art Including Works from the Qantas Collection, which included the work Australian Facade By The Sea by Jeffrey Smart. It changed hands for a price of AUD 174,000.00 (€ 106,989.37) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of AUD 120,000.00 – 180,000.00. Admittedly, works by Jeffrey Smart have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Australian The Painted Factory, Tuscany in August 2009 with an auction result of AUD 870,000.00 (€ 511,490.18).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai 2007 führte Sothebys in Sydney die Auktion Important Australian Art Including Works from the Qantas Collection durch, in der auch die Arbeit Australian Facade By The Sea von Jeffrey Smart zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von AUD 174.000,00 (€ 106.989,37) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von AUD 120.000,00 – 180.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jeffrey Smart auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Australian The Painted Factory, Tuscany im August 2009 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 870.000,00 (€ 511.490,18).
