Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Portrait Of A Gentleman, Circa 1670 by Jean Petitot the Elder was auctioned at Sothebys in Zurich in June 2020, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - CHF 1,500 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at CHF 5,250 (€ 4,938). Admittedly, works by Jean Petitot the Elder have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work in July 2018 with an auction result of GBP 20,000 (€ 22,424).
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Portrait Of A Gentleman, Circa 1670 von Jean Petitot the Elder im Juni 2020 bei Sothebys in Zürich versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – CHF 1.500 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit CHF 5.250 (€ 4.938) mehr als dreimal so hoch. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jean Petitot the Elder auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit im Juli 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 20.000 (€ 22.424).
