Auction result well in line with expectations
The work La Muse des flots by Jean Louis Forain was auctioned at Christies in Paris in October 2020. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of EUR 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, the actual price achieved of EUR 22,500.00 could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean Louis Forain achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work La femme aux affiches in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 1,692,500.00 (€ 1,450,299.91).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit La Muse des flots von Jean Louis Forain kam im Oktober 2020 bei Christies in Paris zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von EUR 22.500,00 konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jean Louis Forain erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit La femme aux affiches im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.692.500,00 (€ 1.450.299,91).
