Auction result well in line with expectations
In May last year Sothebys in New York held the auction Belle Époque Splendor: The Discerning Eye of a Collector, which included the work Danseuse debout by Jean Louis Forain. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 32,760.00 (€ 30,528.38) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean Louis Forain achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work La femme aux affiches in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 1,692,500.00 (€ 1,450,299.91).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai letzten Jahres führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Belle Époque Splendor: The Discerning Eye of a Collector durch, in der auch die Arbeit Danseuse debout von Jean Louis Forain zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 32.760,00 (€ 30.528,38) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jean Louis Forain erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit La femme aux affiches im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.692.500,00 (€ 1.450.299,91).
