Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Isa Tyde, La belle Irlandaise by Jean Louis Forain was auctioned at Christies in London in May last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 12,000.00 (€ 14,116.86). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean Louis Forain achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work La femme aux affiches in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 1,692,500.00 (€ 1,450,299.91).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Isa Tyde, La belle Irlandaise von Jean Louis Forain im Mai letzten Jahres bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 12.000,00 (€ 14.116,86) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jean Louis Forain erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit La femme aux affiches im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.692.500,00 (€ 1.450.299,91).
