Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Belgian Still Life In A Park With An Urn Of "Venus And Adonis" by Jean-Baptiste Robie was sold in the 19th Century European Art including The Orientalist Sale auction at Sothebys in New York in April 2008. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 100,000.00 – 150,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 103,000.00 (€ 66,161.36) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Other works by Jean-Baptiste Robie have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in April 2000 the work Roses, anenomes and peonies, strawberries, a silver-gilt ostrich egg cup and a German gold-gilt tankard on a draped table was auctioned for GBP 54,050.00 (€ 92,531.41).
