The work Belgian roses by Jean-Baptiste Robie was worth USD 21,250.00 (€ 17,402.34) to a buyer in February 2018. This price was achieved in the auction Fine Old Master & 19th Century European Art at Sothebys in New York and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of USD 5,000.00 many times over. Admittedly, works by Jean-Baptiste Robie have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Roses, anenomes and peonies, strawberries, a silver-gilt ostrich egg cup and a German gold-gilt tankard on a draped table in April 2000 with an auction result of GBP 54,050.00 (€ 92,531.41).
