Auction result misses estimated price range
In September 2010 a collector was able to acquire the work A book market along the Seine, Paris by Jan Rijlaarsdam for EUR 2,500.00. This price was achieved in the auction Nineteen to Now,Art from the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries including Indonesian Art and Topographical Observations at Christies in Amsterdam and was even below the estimate range of EUR 2,600.00 – 3,600.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jan Rijlaarsdam - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A Flowergirl, which sold at auction in June 2001 for NLG 18,800.00 (€ 9,036.16).
