The »bidding war« ended at GBP 22,500.00 (€ 25,106.54), 50% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Jan Mijtens have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Double portrait of two children in a landscape, a dog at their side in May this year with an auction result of GBP 132,300.00 (€ 153,931.93).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 50 % übertroffen
Die Arbeit Portrait of a lady as Diana, three-quarter-length, in an oyster satin dress, a bow in her left hand, her right resting on a hound's head, in a landscape von Jan Mijtens wurde im Juli 2017 in der Auktion Old Masters Day Sale bei Christies in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 22.500,00 (€ 25.106,54) und damit 50% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jan Mijtens auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Double portrait of two children in a landscape, a dog at their side im Mai diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 132.300,00 (€ 153.931,93).
