In November 2001 Christies in London held the auction OLD MASTER PICTURES, which included the work Portrait of a young gentleman, half-length, in a burgundy doublet with slashed sleeves and a sash, a feathered cap in his right hand by Jan Mijtens. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 18,800.00 (€ 29,916.72), 25% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Jan Mijtens have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Double portrait of two children in a landscape, a dog at their side in May this year with an auction result of GBP 132,300.00 (€ 153,931.93).

Im November 2001 führte Christies in London die Auktion OLD MASTER PICTURES durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of a young gentleman, half-length, in a burgundy doublet with slashed sleeves and a sash, a feathered cap in his right hand von Jan Mijtens zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 18.800,00 (€ 29.916,72) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jan Mijtens auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Double portrait of two children in a landscape, a dog at their side im Mai diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 132.300,00 (€ 153.931,93).
