Auction result well in line with expectations
The work At Sea by Jan Matulka was auctioned at Christies in New York in November 2018. The price achieved of USD 87,500.00 (€ 77,276.34) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 70,000.00 – 100,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jan Matulka - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work New York Harbor & Paris: A Double Sided Work, which sold at auction in December 2020 for USD 201,600.00 (€ 164,840.56).

Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 87.500,00 (€ 77.276,34) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 70.000,00 – 100.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Jan Matulka mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit New York Harbor & Paris: A Double Sided Work beobachtet, die im Dezember 2020 für USD 201.600,00 (€ 164.840,56) versteigert wurde.
