Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2014 Sothebys in London held the auction Czech Avant-Garde Art from the Roy and Mary Cullen Collection, which included the work American View Of Prague Castle (Pohled Na PraSký Hrad) by Jan Matulka. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 600.00 – 800.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 625.00 (€ 785.80) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jan Matulka achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work New York Harbor & Paris: A Double Sided Work in December 2020 with an auction result of USD 201,600.00 (€ 164,840.56).
