Auction result misses estimated price range
In November 2014 a collector was able to acquire the work American View Of Our Lady Of Tyn, Prague (Pohled Na Týnský Chrám) by Jan Matulka for GBP 1,000.00 (€ 1,257.28). This price was achieved in the auction Czech Avant-Garde Art from the Roy and Mary Cullen Collection at Sothebys in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 1,200.00 – 1,800.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jan Matulka achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work New York Harbor & Paris: A Double Sided Work in December 2020 with an auction result of USD 201,600.00 (€ 164,840.56).
