Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Panoramic landscape, with a town in the distance by Jan Evert Morel was auctioned at Christies in Amsterdam in September 2010, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of EUR 1,500.00 – 2,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for EUR 1,250.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jan Evert Morel achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Grapes, pomegranates, peaches, cherries, and a melon, with carnations, and other flowers on a stone ledge in a landscape in June 2004 with an auction result of USD 31,070.00 (€ 25,511.13).
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Grapes, pomegranates, peaches, cherries, and a melon, with carnations, and other flowers on a stone ledge in a landscape im Juni 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 31.070,00 (€ 25.511,13).
