Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2020 Bonhams in Los Angeles held the auction California and Western Art40th Anniversary Auction, which included the work Smoke Trees against Salton Sea by James Swinnerton. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 4,075.00 (€ 3,498.76) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by James Swinnerton - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Kiva in the desert, which sold at auction in April last year for USD 14,025.00 (€ 13,310.24).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2020 führte Bonhams in Los Angeles die Auktion California and Western Art40th Anniversary Auction durch, in der auch die Arbeit Smoke Trees against Salton Sea von James Swinnerton zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 4.075,00 (€ 3.498,76) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von James Swinnerton mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Kiva in the desert beobachtet, die im April letzten Jahres für USD 14.025,00 (€ 13.310,24) versteigert wurde.
