Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Cabin Amid Pines (In Southern Utah) by James Swinnerton was auctioned at Bonhams in Edinburgh in November this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 2,816.00 (€ 2,581.59). Admittedly, works by James Swinnerton have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Kiva in the desert in April last year with an auction result of USD 14,025.00 (€ 13,310.24).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Cabin Amid Pines (In Southern Utah) von James Swinnerton im November diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in Edinburgh versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 2.816,00 (€ 2.581,59) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von James Swinnerton auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Kiva in the desert im April letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 14.025,00 (€ 13.310,24).
