In February this year Bonhams held the auction Coast to Coast | Live OnlineAmerican Art, including The Collection of Gail Feingarten Oppenheimer, which included the work Smoke Tree by James Swinnerton. The »bidding war« ended at USD 2,040.00 (€ 1,924.17), 36% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by James Swinnerton have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Kiva in the desert in April last year with an auction result of USD 14,025.00 (€ 13,310.24).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 36 % übertroffen
Im Februar diesen Jahres führte Bonhams die Auktion Coast to Coast | Live OnlineAmerican Art, including The Collection of Gail Feingarten Oppenheimer durch, in der auch die Arbeit Smoke Tree von James Swinnerton zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 2.040,00 (€ 1.924,17) und damit 36% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von James Swinnerton auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Kiva in the desert im April letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 14.025,00 (€ 13.310,24).
