Auction result well in line with expectations
In January 2006 Christies in New York held the auction Important American Furniture, Folk Art, Silver and Prints including The Garbisch Collection from the Sky Club, which included the work Portrait of Fisher Ames by James Sharples. The price achieved of USD 6,000.00 (€ 4,935.02) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 5,000.00 – 8,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Sharples achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work George Washington in January 2021 with an auction result of USD 325,000.00 (€ 267,820.35).
