Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by James Sharples could be acquired at Christies in London in March 2011 for an unexpectedly low price. In the The Sunday Sale auction, the work Portrait of a gentleman, three-quarter-length; together with Portrait of a lady, seated three-quarter-length, with a red shawl changed hands for GBP 325.00 (€ 367.74) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 500.00 – 800.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Sharples achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work George Washington in January 2021 with an auction result of USD 325,000.00 (€ 267,820.35).
