Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by James Seymour could be acquired at Sothebys in London in October 2011 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Old Master and British Paintings auction, the work Portait Of A Gentleman, Traditionally Identified As Fulwar, 4Th Earl Of Craven, On His Hunter changed hands for GBP 9,375.00 (€ 10,849.78) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Seymour achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Lord Portmore's 'Snap', a saddled chestnut hunter held by a groom, with a setter in a landscape in July 2021 with an auction result of GBP 275,000.00 (€ 322,494.52).
In der Auktion Old Master and British Paintings wechselte die Arbeit Portait Of A Gentleman, Traditionally Identified As Fulwar, 4Th Earl Of Craven, On His Hunter für GBP 9.375,00 (€ 10.849,78) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 10.000,00 – 15.000,00.
