Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Cato, A Bay Racehorse, With A Groom In A Landscape by James Seymour was sold in the Old Master and British Paintings Day Sale auction at Sothebys in London in December 2011. It changed hands for a price of GBP 58,850.00 (€ 70,481.19) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 40,000.00 – 60,000.00. Admittedly, works by James Seymour have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Lord Portmore's 'Snap', a saddled chestnut hunter held by a groom, with a setter in a landscape in July 2021 with an auction result of GBP 275,000.00 (€ 322,494.52).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Cato, A Bay Racehorse, With A Groom In A Landscape von James Seymour wurde im Dezember 2011 in der Auktion Old Master and British Paintings Day Sale bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 58.850,00 (€ 70.481,19) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 40.000,00 – 60.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von James Seymour auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Lord Portmore's 'Snap', a saddled chestnut hunter held by a groom, with a setter in a landscape im Juli 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 275.000,00 (€ 322.494,52).
