Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait Of A Gentleman by James Scouler was sold in the Important Miniatures from a Private Collection auction at Sothebys in London in April 2008. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,500.00 (€ 4,462.01) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by James Scouler - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work William Powell (1735/1736-1769), In Fur-Lined Blue Gown, White Shirt With Lace Collar And Cuffs, Seated On A Chair With His Left Arm Resting On The Chair Back, Holding In His Right Hand A Playbill For A Double Bill Of Cymbeline And George Colman The Elder, which sold at auction in November 2013 for GBP 8,750.00 (€ 10,529.
