A young gentleman, in gold-bordered blue coat with gold-embroidered button loops and matching waistcoat, lace cravat, powdered wig en queue; together with a pair of miniatures of young men; one in gold-bordered sea-green coat and matching waistcoat with gold buttons, lace cravat, powdered hair en queue and the other in gold-bordered blue coat and matching waistcoat with gold buttons, lace cravat, powdered hair en queue (by a monogramist, 1764); together with a pair of miniatures of ladies, one in pink dress, her light brown hair upswept and one in black lace scarf, thin black ribbon choker, pink flowers and lace aigrette in her upswept light brown hair (English School, circa 1770)
the first signed with initials and dated 'JS. 177[.]' (lower right); the pair of men signed with illegible monogram and dated '[..] 64' (lower right)
ovals, 1 3/8 in. (35 mm.) high, bright-cut gilt-metal mount with blue glass surround, the reverse with seed pearls initials JMB on plaited hair within bright-cut border, the pairs 1 7/16 in. (37 mm.) and 9/16 in. (15 mm.) high, respectively, gilt-metal frames, the latter pair with twisted rope border (5)
