Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Australian The Release by James Gleeson was auctioned at Sothebys in Melbourne in August 2009. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of AUD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of AUD 8,400.00 (€ 4,938.53) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Gleeson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Australian The Dream Of Icarus in April 2008 with an auction result of AUD 174,000.00 (€ 105,274.02).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Australian The Release von James Gleeson kam im August 2009 bei Sothebys in Melbourne zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von AUD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von AUD 8.400,00 (€ 4.938,53) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von James Gleeson erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Australian The Dream Of Icarus im April 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 174.000,00 (€ 105.274,02).
