Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Guardian of the Rock, 1983 by James Gleeson was auctioned at Bonhams in Melbourne in September 2020. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of AUD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of AUD 8,296.00 (€ 7,079.71) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Gleeson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Australian The Dream Of Icarus in April 2008 with an auction result of AUD 174,000.00 (€ 105,274.02).

Die Arbeit Guardian of the Rock, 1983 von James Gleeson kam im September 2020 bei Bonhams in Melbourne zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von AUD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von AUD 8.296,00 (€ 7.079,71) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
